As Anders the younger already had bought the prussians long before I chose to start with napoleonics I had limited choices. But at first I was planning to make russians so that I would be able to fight side by side with Anders the younger against a common foe. With the lack of opponents and the thirst for glory I decided to play as the french. I'm very happy with my decision now as I greatly enjoy the history, painting and modeling of the french army.

Nice to see this blog, and I wish you both well. I hope to hear your comments about R2E, how you came to choose it over other rule sets etc. I also look forward to hearing how you progress with your painting and playing.

SvaraRaderaThank you for the kind words. The plan is that we will put up a detailed post about R2E by next weekend together with a painting guide for our regular line battalions.
My experience from the few test games of R2E I have played so far have been mixed positive. I really enjoyed the focus on maneuvering and the willingness to play aggressive, what I didn't like were the convoluted way everything is written.
