Yes the blue and yellow looks good together, not mention (of course)being the national colors of Sweden!

Indeed! Being a romantic nationalist the choice was easy. How interesting that you are of scandinavian descent. I know that between 1850 and 1914 approximately 1 million swedes emigrated to America, much to the dismay of the swedish state. My grandfather tracked down some relatives of ours who now live in Oregon and in Washington, even though Minnesota is the most scandinavian of the states if I remember correctly.
SvaraRaderaOn another note, the first historical unit i made was the 1st Regiment, Minnesota Volunteer Infantry for the American Civil War. Just because of the fact that it consisted mostly of scandinavians (primarily danish i think). I got interested after I had read a book which title in english would be: "The swedes beneath the Star-Spangled Banner", detailing the swedish efforts in the horrible war between brothers.
Thank you for your comment Peter, I hope that you will follow my progress here and find it delightful!

Hi Anders,
SvaraRaderaMy great grandfather initially settled in the upper Midwestern US, where everyone understood Scandinavian names; it was when he moved to Virginia, where no one did, that he changed his last name! The Schleswig Holstein war was reportedly what made him decide to leave Europe with his family.

Fascinating Peter, which Schleswig-Holstein conflict? The first or second? I can understand why someone would leave because of that, though. It's good to hear that you remember your ancestors. Did your great grandfather leave with family and if so, did they all stay in America?
