Proud Prussians - Divisional work in progress

Guten Tag!

My prussian forces are growing steadily and after trying Republic to Empire I have become more keen on painting all of my infantry to see them charge the french lines in blue-black glory. Here are some pictures of what I am currently working with.

Another batalion of Silesian musketeers finished. Soon the whole regiment is done!

These will soon be put together as the fusilier batalion of my Silesians. The look of this unit will be a bit different.

Landwehr Command, zu Fuß. To use when playing Republic to Empire.
.

Two patrolling Grenadiers. To be used as either skirmishers or as markers for scenarios.

Landwehr drummers for my finished Landwehr batalion.

Do not despair. There is more to come. Trust me!
Please leave your comments and questions!

    1. Thank you! I plan to do an update in the future showing all that I have finished for my Prussian brigade.

Yes, they will be converted! As I did with my first squadron, which you can find in previous posts on the blog. I will make another squadron of the 2:nd Silesian hussars, Silesian national cavalry and something that will be a surprise.

  4. Looking good!
Are you aming to play R2E, BP or both? Having noticed your use of a base of drummers it would be interersting to hear your thoughts on basing (the elusive grail of wargaming!)

    1. Since we have both Republic to Empire and Blackpowder we may play different games in different eras, or introduce new people with the easier game. One day I will have to post my union division for ACW, for which I have used BP as gaming system.

Bases has always been my passion. When we talked about the arranging of our units we came to the conclusion that a separate drummers base would give alot of flavour to the overall look - leading the march column or standing behind the line. It also means that our standard unit (model wise) ends up at 32. In R2E we would rather change the characteristics on paper than building disproportionate units. They only represent batalions, after all.

On this scale this works perfectly. If we would play with smaller figures, one could build more intricate bases with all officers and special things represented in their historically correct positions. This one perhaps one big batalion base.

Those are some thoughts. We might do a post on this since you ask!

    2. If its your passion then you should post about it!
I like the idea of a drummer base, it looks good and adds a special something to the battalion. It also adds something to playability as the overall frontage isn't as wide, giving room to more battalions on the table. What about "large" units and forming square?

  5. Yes, that's great progress and a couple of great miniatures. Which Brigade are you aiming for?

    1. I take inspiration from the army of Silesia during the battle of Leipzig 1813. Although I make adjustments to suit my taste. Me and Anders the elder has chosen to do this to have on one hand the historical accuracy, but still have the opportunity to take some artistic freedoms.

So in my brigade, as it stands now, there will be:

      - Generalmajor
      - Artillery detachment, 2 6-pounders, 1 haubitz
      - Grenadier detachment: 2 bat:ns, Silesian and West Prussian, + One or two batalions of landwehr, we will see...

      - Silesian regiment, 3 bat:ns, 2 musketeer, 1 fusilier
      - West Prussian regiment, 3 bat:ns
      - Silesian Landwehr, at least 3 bat:ns
      - Cavalry detachment, 3 or 4 squadrons, 2nd Silesian hussars, Silesian national cav., landwehr cav.

      + Some independent Schützen and/or composite jäger-bat:ns.

+ In the future, some german allies.

Those are my thoughts right now.
