May madness

Hi,

Anders the younger came so after some coffee we finished some bases for out brigade commanders and their staff. As he had his camera with him we took some pictures to show you our two finished "brigades" in action on my kitchen table.

The Prussian grenadier brigade with landwehr backup facing of a french line regiment

The lines are closing in on each other

Silesian and West-Prussian  grenadiers advance while the oberst brings up the landwehr

The french brigade with deployed voltigeurs

Landwehr trying to drive of french skirmishers in the woods

Silesian grenadiers are quick to form squares when the french heavy cavalry comes unto the field

    2. I suppose that artillery and cavalry are on the horizon... ;-) My next project is actually to paint a squadron of the 2nd Silesian hussars. After that, who knows? Probably some more infantry. You can never have too much infantry.

  3. Great job! You have been really productive and it looks really good all together like that.
My only concern is that the round bases with their heavy "lip" stands out from the rest. But that is really only a matter of personal taste and doesn't take away the fact that it is a great looking force that you have on that table.
    Looking forward to see more!

    1. Thank you Mattias! At first I had the same concern as you, with the bases for the officers and skirmishers. After some time, however, I got used to the idea and saw that it didn't stand out too much. We only use those bases for special stands of miniatures. The officers are more of markers than units and should be easily distinguished. The same goes for the type of skirmishers that are sent out from the infantry units(representing flank companies or Freivillige Jägers). As you say, it's personal taste. We like to separate the manouverable units from the rest and we chose to use this kind of scenic bases. And rest assured, more will come in due time!

    1. Danke! After finishing our first brigades (not to be confused with the prussian brigade of course) I believe that we've come to a point where modeling and painting the regular battalions have become routine. With that said, I hope that I will be able to produce quite a bit this summer. I also look forward to painting my prussian medics!

  5. These are really good, what a great start.
I wish the quality of plastics was around when I started in the hobby, or even the metals frankly!
    Mange tak for posting,

  6. Hi again, just read your whole blog. Your creativity with plastics is very inspiring! I have just finished 32 Russian Guard Hussars using the Perry plastic hussar with Warlord plastic Russian grenadier head, they painted up very well, I'll base them soon and post pictures on my blog. I will do some Prussian ones as well - thanks for the inspiration. Also check out the conversions of Perry French cuirassiers to Westphalians & Saxons simply by adding a plume and different paint job. Thanks a lot.

    1. Thank you sir, that's very nice of you to say! I'm happy to hear that we can contribute to other people in this hobby of ours. We look forward to seeing your Guard hussars.

On another note we have been discussing ways of converting some troops of the german states to use in scenarios on both sides. How exactly this will play out is unknown in this moment.
